Plaistow

LUL S7 stock, on a District Line service to Richmond, departing on its long journey from Plaistow in east London, on 2nd July 2021. This station was opened by the LT&SR in 1858 and enlarged in 1902 when District Line trains were extended east from Whitechapel. Main line trains ceased to call in 1962 and their now disused platforms are on the left and fenced off from the surviving part of the station. The station and the District Line out to Upminster remained in main line ownership until 1969 when it was transferred to London Transport control and BR Eastern Region running-in boards and totem signs were replaced by LU roundels, except at Barking and Upminster stations that remain in main line ownership, now National Rail C2C.
