Ravenscraig Strip Mill

Strip coil loading at the Ravenscraig Steel Works in 1988. This shed was the westernmost of the buildings in the works and, to orientate you, the view looks north. Shortly after the wagons were loaded a locomotive (Ravenscraig No 2, a Sentinel rated for 48 tons) entered the shed from behind the camera and drew the train out the same way to deposit it in No 3 yard (following another reversal). Where I was standing is now a roundabout.
