Shewalton Tip

You can't see the track for the trees. The former engineers' coup at Shewalton is now a nature reserve. As I recall from a visit many years ago, when it was still in use, there was only one long siding with two or three rusty MCVs at the far end. Once the coup closed and the siding was disconnected it would appear that no attempt was made to recover the track, most of which is still present and heavily overgrown with mature
trees. There are gaps here and there where perhaps some illicit recovery has taken place.
