Irwell Vale
A popular pairing on the third day of the ELR 2021 summer diesel gala was the two Sulzer Type 2s, D5054 and 25279 (D7629). There was a real contrast between the first incarnation, with no headcode box but a gangway and multiple bodyside grills, and the (much tidier) final design with headcode box, cantrail grills and no gangway, but both had the distinctive Sulzer sound as they left Irwell Vale heading for Rawtenstall.
