Angel

Original 1901 entrance to Angel station, Northern Line, seen from a TfL bus on route 43 (London Bridge to Friern Barnet) on 15th May 2021. The entire station was rebuilt in 1992 which saw the closure of this entrance on City Road and a more spacious replacement opened round the corner on Islington High Street. The lifts were replaced by escalators and Angel now has the longest escalator on the Underground; previously this was at Leicester Square (Northern and Piccadilly Lines). Angel's narrow island platform was replaced at the same time but examples of this type of platform in a single tunnel can still be seen at Clapham North and Clapham Common, also on the Northern Line - in SOUTH London!
