Garnqueen

Looking north along the former course of the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway at Garnqueen in 1997. Rails were still embedded in the roadway, despite closure 15 years earlier, simply covered by tarmac. The posts of the level crossing gates also remained. Garnqueen station was open between 1849 and 1851. This was also probably the site of a stopping place open in 1828.
