Kingsknowe

The driver of a Saturday morning Edinburgh - Glasgow Central train activates the LC barriers at Kingsknowe on 18 July 2009. Unit 158786 is in transitional livery, having arrived in Scotland sporting South West Trains markings in early 2007 (see image 54822) with its bright splash of colour seen across the region for many months thereafter The appearance here of a 158 was unusual in itself, given the predominance of class 156 units on these services at the time. The change was due to the latter having been redeployed over that particular weekend to handle Golflink shuttles between Glasgow Central and Girvan in connection with the 138th Open at Turnberry (see image 24635).
