Kings Cross

View of the maze of tracks just north of Kings Cross, seen from 700119 emerging from the northbound portal of the Canal Tunnels with a service to Peterborough. These connect the ECML with St. Pancras International Low Level on the Thameslink route. Their name comes from the Regents Canal that they pass closely beneath. They were constructed between 2004 and 2006 but remained unused until the belated introduction of through services from Peterborough and Cambridge to destinations south of the Thames that commenced in May 2018. The tracks seen here on 11th May 2021 were very quiet due to the finding of cracks in the 800 Hitachi trains, wrecking the LNER timetable.
