Dobbs Brow Junction

150116 heads for Kirby at Dobbs Brow on 27th April 2021. This is a rather non-descript location at present but, prior to 1968, there were four tracks here and the junction for the cut off line to the Hindley and Blackrod branch was about half way between the train and the bridge in the background. See map 76558. For the future, 150116 is identified to become a three-car Class 150/0 using a Class 150/2 car in the centre, one of four such Northern conversions. Additionally, Dobbs Brow has been proposed as a location for a brand new station, which will make three serving Westhoughton with the obvious one and also Daisy Hill.
