Capernwray Viaduct

Just to the north of where the Bentham Line crosses the River Keer and the Lancaster Canal lies Wegber Quarry. These days it houses a caravan park but early maps show a tramway running down from the workings to a loading point here on the canal. The track turned right in front of this old building to head back to the quarry. The point in the distance where the canal appears to stop is actually a junction where the short Capernwray Arm, another quarry loading point, branches right from the main canal route to Tewitfield (and at one time Kendal).
