Culcheth

A view of the site of Culcheth station, closed with the Wigan Central branch from Glazebrook in 1964. In the early 1970s the council purchased a one mile stretch of the branch for £22,500 to create the Culcheth Linear Park. I am sure the many locals who use the facility will agree this was a worthwhile investment. The bridge is the only surviving railway feature. See image 67583 for the view from the other side.
