Knutsford

Knutsford station, on the Manchester Piccadilly to Chester line, looking south from the northbound platform on 6th April 2016. This station was opened by the Cheshire Lines Committee on 12th May 1862 as the temporary terminus of the line from Altrincham until extension to Northwich on 1st January 1863. The Victorian writer Mrs. Gaskell, a.k.a. Elizabeth Gaskell (1810-1865) based her novel 'Cranford', on the town of Knutsford.
