Wakefield's Wharf

Looking generally southwards on the northern section of the Lancaster Canal at Crooklands in October 2020. This is Wakefield's Wharf, after the company that operated the Gatebeck Powder Works, and there was a tramway siding here for transhipping goods to and from the barges. The stone plinth has an information plaque about the Gatebeck Tramway, which ran along the roadside behind the wall to the right with the siding accessing the wharf through the right hand gate.
