Corrib Viaduct

Remains of bridge on the north side of the River Corrib at Galway which carried the former Connemara Railway from Galway to Clifden across the river, seen here on 21st June 2017, looking towards Clifden. This 48 mile line was opened by the Midland Great Western Railway on 1st January 1895 and closed by the Great Southern Railway of Ireland on 27th April 1935. Since my visit, a short reopening project has started to take shape at the former intermediate station at Maam Cross.
