Bathgate Upper

In January 1965, J36 0-6-0 65243 'Maude' pauses for water from the column at the closed Bathgate Upper station, whilst on the way to the nearby marshalling yard with a load of coal from a local colliery. Although some fifty years old, the locomotive remained hard at work in the Bathgate area, along with several other members of the class. Note that a snowplough was fitted for possible wintry weather.
