Stirling

The A-listed Stirling station preserves within its premises the structures of two original John Menzies platform kiosks, but both are now shut and out of use. The one on platform 3 was closed decades ago, but the second, directly opposite on platform 2, was active for much longer until the installation of automatic ticket barriers after privatisation made it inaccessible from the forecourt. Shown here is the down platform kiosk in July 1992 when it was still open for business and customers were trusted to not take items off the stands and jump on a train without paying (much as they were trusted to buy tickets to travel on the train beforehand).
