Solway Viaduct

Pipeline Junction. View north from the Solway coast on the outskirts of Annan in May 2008 along the trackbed of the Solway Junction Railway, with the site of the Solway Viaduct behind the camera. Coming in from the right to join the formation is the waste water pipeline running four and a half miles from a disposal point close by (see 19419) to the nuclear power station at Chapelcross (11601). The viaduct and railway route closed in 1921, while Chapelcross itself was decommissioned in 2004. The bridge with the double gate arrangement links a farm located off to the right with the coastal area to the west of the pipeline.
