Lady Victoria Pit Signal Box

The 1045 (Sunday) Tweedbank - Edinburgh approaching the Newtongrange stop on 16 February 2020. The train is passing a point where industrial sites now occupy former railway land on both sides of the line. The area to the right was once part of the Lady Victoria yard and sidings, while on the left was the lesser known Newbattle Disposal Point and Coal Stocking Site. The latter was established during World War 2 to deal with coal from non-rail served locations such as opencast workings. It was linked to the main line just south of Newtongrange station. This area is now occupied by Butlerfield Industrial Estate - see 40939.
