Loanhead

By 1966 the Glencorse branch had been closed beyond Bilston Glen Colliery on the south side of Loanhead. Coal traffic generated by the pit, latterly supplying Cockenzie PS, kept the last section of the route back to Millerhill open for a further 25 years. Less than half a mile north of Bilston Glen the line passed below a road bridge near Loanhead town centre, seen here in March 2011, almost 20 years after the last coal train had gone.
