Torsby

A general view of Torsby Station in Värmland (Western Sweden) showing on the left-hand platform the current shelter and left of that the actual bus stop shelter (for replacement buses). On the right is the former station building now used by the infrastructure contractor Infranord. On this day there were no trains running as the track was affected by heat distortion.
This line was slated for closure in 1965 but a campaign of local people supported by Astrid Lindgren (author of Pippi Longstocking) saved it. Just around the corner in the background was the next station Stjerneskolan which was closed along with several others to speed up the service. In December 2019 came news that two of these closed stations were to re-open for a two year trial period.
