Kirbymoorside

The disused Kirbymoorside station, seen here in June 1982. The station closed to passengers on 2nd February 1953 but excursion trains to Scarborough continued until 3rd May 1964 and the line was closed completely three months later on 10th August 1964. This view has now disappeared, demolition taking place in April and May 2010, and a housing estate now stands here, wiping away once and for all any visible memories of the station that once served this pleasant North Yorkshire town.
