Millerhill Engineers Depot

The former Millerhill marshalling yard has undergone a number of major changes in recent years. The northern half of the old down yard now hosts the Biogen and RERC recycling plants, with the abandoned and overgrown area to the south being considered for future commercial/retail development as part of the Shawfair new town project. This photograph shows the up side looking south from Whitehill Road on Boxing Day 2019, with the long siding running towards the PW yard which now occupies the south east corner (where a class 66 can just be seen). In the centre trains stabled for the holiday occupy all 7 of the numbered roads of the EMU depot. Sidings to their right contain various items, including rail mounted plant, track machines and diesel locomotives. On the right is a corner of the accommodation block on which the sign reads 'Millerhill Depot Network Rail'.
