Sheepford Viaduct

On the former Caledonian route between Whifflet and Airdrie, the line was carried on a long plate girder viaduct over the Monkland Canal. The last train to use the viaduct crossed in 1990 by which time the line had been cut back to British Steel's Imperial Works, approximately half a mile to the east. Today it is part of a walking and cycling route. Photographed approaching from the Whifflet direction in the summer of 2006.
