West Bryans Siding

The 0911 (Sunday) Edinburgh - Tweedbank has just cleared Newbattle Viaduct on a cold, grey November morning. The train is formed by ScotRail 170407 in British Transport Police livery. Notice the compound above the rear coach in which the containers are standing. This is the site of West Bryans exchange sidings, once used by the Newbattle Collieries Railway. The sidings fell into disuse prior to World War 1, following the commissioning of new exchange facilities by the Lothian Coal Company alongside Lady Victoria pit see image 70773.
