Preston

The underside of the North Union bridge, which carries the WCML across the River Ribble to the south of Preston station, taken from one of the entrances to adjacent Avenham Park on 1st November 2019. The centre span is the original from 1838 with, to its right, the quadrupling bridge of 1880. Only 23 years later the railway was widened yet again when the girder bridge on the left was added to allow six approach tracks.
