Padiham

After final closure in 1993, thirty years after the last passenger train, the tracks of the line to Padiham Power Station lay undisturbed for many years but more recently have been lifted to create an urban greenway. This view looks up the 1:40 gradient toward Rose Grove at Dryden Street bridge. I tend to associate trackbed cycle-paths with long closed lines but the last coal trains on the Padiham line were hauled by Class 60s, which is very modern era.
