Polkemmet Junction

View east over Whitburn Road, Bathgate, in July 2008, showing Boghead Bridge carrying the trackbed of the closed Airdrie - Bathgate route, with the site of Polkemmet Junction off picture to the right. The buildings dominating the background stand on the site of Balbardie Steel Works, dating from 1907. The last activities ceased here in 2009 see image 20073. The area is now occupied by a supermarket. Electric trains running between Armadale and Bathgate now use this bridge.
