Knightswood Colliery

Little remains of the extensive Knightswood colliery, brick works and the railway system except part of a bridge over Fulton Street and, just to the west, a large bridge carrying the same street over one of the trackbeds. This is the view from this latter bridge, looking east to Anniesland and its famous tower block in 1999. Knightswood Primary School now occupies much of the site seen here. In the distance was a reversing loop, Knightswood Mineral Depot, where the line from Knightswood South Junction met the Netherton works line. The layout of these colliery lines altered several times.
