Scarborough

Falsgrave signal box in September 2008, looking west across the running lines with Scarborough station off to the right. Behind the box is the sealed entrance to Falsgrave Tunnel, which, prior to 1965, brought the line from Whitby into Scarborough , as well as providing a route through to Gallows Close yard and the carriage sidings at Northstead. This proved particularly useful from 1908 in dealing with the large number of excursion trains using the new Londesborough Road station, located off to the left see image 21963.
