Wylam

The superb signal box at Wylam is often photographed, at rightly so, but turn around and here is the wonderful much older station station as it was in 1998. It was much modified in 1897 and, very unusually for this line, is actually beside the platform. The N&CR had a strange habit of building platforms, once they came in vogue, nowhere near their buildings.
