York

A down Voyager seen shortly after leaving York in 2009, with the former Holgate Road carriage works in the background. The works began manufacturing carriages for the North Eastern Railway in 1884, with the last passenger stock prior to closure (class 365 units) built for BR in 1996. The factory was reopened by Thrail (USA) in 1997 to produce wagons for EWS, although this work ended in 2002, when the facility closed once again. The main building was acquired by Network Rail in 2009 and is currently used for the storage and maintenance of RHTT vehicles.
