Northallerton East Junction

A TransPennine Middlesbrough - Manchester Airport 185 heading south, shortly after passing over Low Gates level crossing, Northallerton, in July 2012. The sidings to the left of the train are all that remains of the Leeds Northern goods depot that stood here, alongside the passenger station. The latter still stands, now part of a retail development which today occupies most of the former LN railway land see image 39796. The train has been routed left at Northallerton East Junction in order to reach the station and the up ECML.
