Carlisle

Seen through the mist at Carlisle, three days before Christmas 1961, is Black 5 4-6-0 no 44757. This was one of a number of examples built with 'special features', including, in this case, Caprotti valve gear and double chimney. The Holbeck based locomotive is preparing to attach train 1X76, a relief Carlisle - St Pancras working.
