Meadowhall

In the middle of a complex area of railways (and a road) on the northern edge of Sheffield was this rather linear view interrupted only by two power station cooling towers. The original plan for Meadowhall Interchange Station called for Intercity platforms on the main line, where the HST is passing, (on the site of the original Meadowhall and Wincobank Station) with shorter platforms for local services on the Chapeltown Branch (behind camera). In the foreground is also visible the former Blackburn Junction line leading into Meadowhall Works. At the time of this photo it was in use by the South Yorkshire Railway Company to keep its collection of diesel shunters.
