St James

A Metro 4-car unit stands at the St James terminus in Newcastle city centre on 10 December 2017 ready to depart to South Shields. Informed travellers would change at the first station on its journey, Monument, which will also be its 28th stop, albeit on a different platform at a lower level and around an hour later. The train’s anti-clockwise journey round the North Tyneside loop takes it though North Shields which is only about 1500m as the crow flies from its destination which it is due to reach after a further 63 minutes have elapsed.
