Penicuik Gas Works
Part of a still discernible trackbed in Lady Wood alongside the A701 on the northern approach to Penicuik, photographed in February 2016 looking east. The embankment carried a mineral line running south from the goods yard at Glencorse station to serve coal workings and the local gasworks (which stood just off picture to the right). Nowadays the route is used regularly by walkers and as a shortcut by students from the nearby high school.
