Birchwood

A Liverpool South Parkway to Scarborough service arrives at Birchwood on 20 October 2017. This station was opened by British Rail in 1981 however there had been a station a short distance to the east which had served ROF Risley which had been constructed at the start of WW2. The site covered over 900 acres and had an extensive rail network. After WW2 was taken over by what became the UKAEA but since the late 60s most of the site has become Birchwood village or a business park. The road bridge behind the train carries the M6 motorway.
