Pickering

Hidden amongst the rolling stock in the sidings at the NYMR in 1987 is the unique preserved BR Class J72 0-6-0T 'Joem' owned by the NELPG. Twenty years earlier we used to visit Pickering on holiday. At that time the railway was still closed; the only steam attraction in Pickering was the annual Traction Engine Rally. Fifty years after that the railway has been revived but the traction engines have now moved to Whitby.
