Ashington

Ashington signal box looking north in 1987. The line to the left ran to Ashington Colliery and the Butterwell Disposal Point. Seldom used, the connection has been severed allowing box closure in 2010. The double track to the right ran to the Lynemouth Aluminium Smelter and Lynemouth Power Station, having started life as the Newbigging Branch.
