Carlisle

LMS Patriot 5901 Sir Robert Turnbull stands at Carlisle in 1933, shortly after delivery from Crewe Works. For a short period the locomotive carried the same name and number as the Claughton it had replaced (the original LNWR 1161), but within a short time was renumbered by the LMS as 5540, eventually becoming 45540 under BR. It was withdrawn from Carlisle Upperby in April 1963 and cut up at Crewe Works some three months later.
