Pitmedden

Only the fields and remains of the Aberdeenshire Canal are likely to survive from this shot looking south from the Old Dyce Kirk overbridge. Remains of the canal are below the tree in the middleground to the left of the track see image 39000 for a view looking towards the bridge. The telegraph poles are gone and there is a new colour light signal here, DMUs ply the route now and soon most of the view will be blocked by a bridge and embankments on the AWPR. Beyond where the red crane is beside the piles of sand there now lies Raiths Farm Railfreight Terminal. That name is a revival of the old name which existed before Aberdeen Airport expanded and the previous farm area was turned into industrial estates for the oil industry.
