Photographed from a hotel window above a busy street tram type Be 4/4 runs across a major road junction onto dedicated tracks in central Basel. In 1999 the trams were repainted in a light green livery. BVB, a self-governing public corporation, also has tram lines that run from Basel into neighbouring countries France and Germany.
