Quainton Road

This is a site well worth visiting. Over the years, they have expanded quite well. Sheds here there and everywhere are full of historical items. The Lottery paid for a new footbridge which spans the site, the downside of that is that they must maintain at great cost the disabled lift or they will have to pay back the Lottery. Some years ago, they acquired ex Government food store buildings which have proved an asset.

From what I can gather, HS2 is to pass by with inches to spare but they appear to have struck a deal whereby they can expand north through the left hand arch of the road bridge towards Grendon Jct. Our guide seemed very positive about this and I do hope it comes true for them. To run this line, the GWR 2-8-2T 7200 is being rebuilt and from my view it looked close to completion.
