Barton and Broughton
An Edinburgh to Euston Pendolino heads towards Preston near Barton and Broughton on 29th August 2016. The signal on the left controls access to the Down Loop, which can just be seen under the bridge that carries a local water main. This stretch of the WCML had four tracks until around the time of electrification in the early 1970s. [Ref query 3350]
