Barnby Bridge Junction

A lower section of a bridge abutment stands on the south side of the A635 between Barnsley and Cawthorne. It was on the Silkstone Branch of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway that formerly ran from Silkstone Junction on the Barnsley to Horbury Junction line, near Barugh. The line ran ahead towards Stanhope Colliery, with a line turning off east, just south of the bridge, to access Higham Colliery. The M1 motorway bridge can be seen to upper left of view, with the parapet of the Silkstone Beck seen on centre right of view. See image 56088
