Monk Fryston

View over the embankment on the east side across lines to the closed signal box near Milford South Junction. The box formerly controlled the south to east freight spur connecting to the Leeds Selby line and sidings alongside the outside of the curve, plus a small yard used for wagon maintenance. Just how many sets of points it dealt with is anyones guess, as there are numerous crossovers where the lines from York and the south to east spur run alongside the box to become the Castleford and Pontefract lines. Through workings between York and Sheffield have to move across two tracks at reduced speed.
