Newcraighall Turnback Siding

Track level view of the then recently completed turnout at Newcraighall North Junction built in conjunction with the re-opening of stations at Newcraighall (off the picture to the right just beyond the A1 overbridge) and Brunstane. The siding rises quite steeply to a hump see image 54492. This enables the longer part of the siding to be on a level (lye). The junction was later rebuilt to a better standard and then rebuilt again on a different alignment when it became the junction for the Borders Railway.
