Edinburgh Waverley
Sunday morning engineering work on the north side of Waverley in February 2006 in connection with the new 'Balmoral' through platform. Freightliner 66607 edges slowly forward along platform 1 with a ballast train. Note the partially dismantled GPO overhead cableway bridge via which mailbages were once carried from their Waterloo Place HQ alongside the station, through a hole in the station wall, over the tracks and into a rail distribution centre off to the left.
