Wingate

Despite the prominence of the brewer's lorry, this pub sign in County Durham seems to give a realistic view of the railway which used to cross Front Street next to this appropriately named pub. A long-term resident told me that the last use of this line was to take coal out from a nearby pit; the line closed in 1966. One pair of gates, and both pairs of gate posts, survive.
