The Scammell Townsman was the replacement for the venerable Scarab see image 43459. The fibreglass cab certainly looked more modern than the rounded Scarab; while the new vehicle featured such advanced technologies as servo assisted brakes and a built-in interior heater. Although a Townsman could do 50mph, it had no brake on the front wheel; which omission contributed to the very short (1967-1968) production run.
